Poet Hamish MacDonald – Nairn Poems

Hamish MacDonald is a celebrated Scottish writer and performer based in the Highlands, known for his dynamic poetry and fiction.


His published works include “Wilson’s Ornithology & Burds in Scots” (2020), showcasing his mastery of the Scots language, infused with West Coast wit and humour. Hamish has served as the first Robert Burns Writing Fellow for Dumfries and Galloway and the inaugural Scots Scriever at the National Library of Scotland. He’s also the honorary poet for Clydebank Football Club, the “Bankies Bard.”
As a playwright, MacDonald co-founded the award-winning Dogstar Theatre Company, writing impactful plays like “Factor 9.”

Living in the Highlands, he frequently participates in local literary events, including the Nairn Book & Arts Festival, where he’s known for his engaging live performances.
