The writer’s den is an historic Highland Hideaway, once the original kitchen of the 18th century main house. It has been lovingly transformed into a private retreat, full of character and handcrafted details. Knock Grena or Cnoc Gréine in Gaelic meaning “hill of the sun“ has been a place of light and quiet power for centuries.

This 2 bed property backs onto the river Nairn and is a minute’s walk to the Harbour which provides access to the East and West beaches.
The property is newly refurnished and decorated throughout.

Situated a stone’s throw from the High Street and short walk from the seaside we offer a fantastic stay for visitors to drink in the relaxing costal atmosphere with quick access to local hospitality. The accommodation is set back from the street within its own shared gardens, including outdoor seating and a private storage shed for sports or outdoor equipment.
The accommodation offers a sizeable living room with a real flame gas fire, kitchen/dining room, double and twin bedrooms, shower and bath facilities and all the comforts of home. The upstairs master bedroom is set in our vast loft conversion with comforting sloped ceilings. Here we also have an adjacent box room adding extra sleeping accommodation for larger families/group
The quaint garden space is ideal to sit out, kick back and soak in the seaside air with a coffee or something stronger.
Guests have exclusive access to the entire property for the duration of their stay. They will also benefit from use of our shed storage space and shared access to our secluded garden space. We have a high chair and travel cot available for families to use with small children.

Originally built for the coachman for Monkland House, the Cottage now incorporates the original hayloft to provide spacious holiday accommodation. The Cottage offers the best in luxury self-catering accommodation, sleeping up to 6 people in 3 sumptuous bedrooms, large open plan kitchen, lounge with log burning stove and dining area. It is also attached to the original stables creating a private, sheltered courtyard ideal for outdoor dining.
